I’m a performing artist and mental health therapist. My work lives where healing, creativity and community meet.
Shanell Alyssa is a multi-faceted performing artist who bridges the worlds of mental health, music therapy, and soulful artistry. As a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) and licensed clinical mental health counselor (LMHC), she brings a uniquely therapeutic approach to her delivery.
Her music performance shines through her velvety, soulful vocals and thoughtful singer-songwriter approach. Shanell's debut EP "Rise Above" transcended mere entertainment and serves as a powerful testament to authentic self-expression and breaking free from societal constraints. This work inspired her personal creative brand "Rise Above," which has underpinned many of her creative and therapeutic endeavors.
A recognized talent in the New England music scene, Shanell was named a Sofar Sounds Black Artist to Hear Now in 2022 and earned distinction from NPR's WBUR Boston in 2019 as one of the top 21 Tiny Desk Contest entries in Massachusetts. She perform, facilitates and curates gatherings throughout the Northeast as a music artist and community catalyst, bringing people together through the transformative power of music.
